Are you interested in learning how to build a compost bin?
The Compostadores lead bin-building workshops all around the Twin Cities. We build simple, static, “no-turn” 4′ x 4′ bins in community gardens. We use reused wooden pallets, in the style of Growing Power.
Compost bin workshops last about 2-3 hours and take place several times monthly. They are fun, participatory, educational opportunities, and a great way to meet neighbors and learn about the complexity and importance of soil! You’ll leave the workshop with basic skills and knowledge to build your own bin and maintain it.
Bins are made from salvaged wood pallets, are lined with hardware wire, and are easily replicable. They look great when completed! We’re currently working with an artist to develop a Guide to Building a Bin for those who are unable to attend our workshops.
